Character education + coaching

A perfect combination.

“Intelligence plus character – that is the goal of true education.”
- Martin Luther King

Character education is our 'Why'

At Character Compass, we believe that character is the true compass for success.

Put simply, we want the students we work with to win at life - whatever that looks like for them - by enabling them to clarify and understand their core values, and empowering them to thrive.

Our mission is to give young people a personal toolkit to navigate their lives with purpose, confidence and compassion. Moreover, in an increasingly AI-driven world and workplace, we know that character skills will become even more indispensable: we are committed to upskilling young people with the emotional intelligence to thrive in Industry 5.0.

All of our sessions are...

Interactive

For learning to stick, it has to be fun. We want to build confidence with the tools we introduce so whether a workshop or conference speech, we get people to have a go at using them! This also ensures our training is…

Useful

We always want participants to leave bursting with ideas and resources that they can implement straight away. But we know that doesn’t work unless our sessions are…

Bespoke

We work hard to understand your setting to ensure that we can tailor our training to your needs, goals and values. We hope this makes our work…

Inclusive

We want everyone we work with to feel included, supportive and safe. We make sure that all our resources are SEND-friendly and our facilitators have full training in SEND, DEI and SEMH.

"I cannot recommend Alanna highly enough. Her foundational coaching skills course was a revelatory experience. She not only explained the theory clearly and convincingly, but there was also lots of opportunity to practise in small groups and she was always encouraging and supportive, with excellent tips and practical ideas to try out… I absolutely loved doing this course and took away from it lots of food for thought as well as some great practical skills for working more effectively with other people."

Teacher, Foundational Coaching Skills workshop

"Why doesn’t every student get taught how to lead as we have in this workshop?"

Year 12, Student Leadership Skills workshop

"Debating is an invaluable skill that taught me structure and precision early on in my academic journey. I learned how to think on my feet, take a live note of people talking, and then stand up and respond. Professionally, I use this skill almost everyday. Learning how to defend ideas that I may not even agree with under scrutiny developed my own critical thinking and confidence. Crucially, I believe being able to present and defend an argument succinctly and confidently is something that no one is born with. It has to be taught and absorbed, meaning debating is open to anyone to learn! I was lucky enough to be taught by Alanna, and I cannot overstate what a wonderful debating coach she is…"

Coaching is our ‘how’

Coaching gives individuals the skills and tools to maximise their own potential by deepening self-knowledge and strengthening self-efficacy. There is thus a natural synergy between this and character education. We are committed to making all our training useful and actionable help ideas stick - and we always provide take-home resources as well, drawn from our extensive library.

Empowering young people is our ‘what’

Experience tells us that triangulating student, staff and parent training creates maximal impact.

That’s why we work with schools to deliver student workshops, staff training and parent education, alongside our tailored consultancy services, that help to build self-knowledge, emotional intelligence and resilience amongst the pupil body.
